Overview of OpenSecurity Use Cases
The main focus of OpenSecurity lays in protecting users from viruses and malware when using the internet carelessly and from malware when loading documents from USB removable storage devices, as well as from unintentional publication of confidential information.
OpenSecurity aims at preventing the loss or (un-)intentional misuse of sensitive and citizen-related data hosted by public institutions. OpenSecurity applies security by isolation principles using a security layer in an independent virtual machine (Security Virtual Machine or SVM) running on top of MS Windows. Multiple services can be controlled in this manner.
The integration of the security measures takes place unobtrusively in an existing IT infrastructure without compromising the available and used domain specific solutions and infrastructure.
OpenSecurity focuses on three use cases:
- Secure USB: The security layer controls, verifies, and encrypts any communication taking place on USB devices.
- Secure Web Browsing: enables safe and isolated web-browsing.
- Central Virus-Scanning and Monitoring
